LI Spoof on mobile data.
The VPN can be connected while the developer service is unavailable. If DVT will not connect on cellular, try the temporary data-off startup below.
Updated · Applies to build 23
Verify online. Connect DVT. Restore data. Start Spoof.
Prepare while you are online
Open LI Spoof with Wi-Fi or mobile data available and let your license verify. Enable Developer Mode, finish pairing and confirm Pairing File: Saved. Select your destination or prepare the route while map services are available. First-time setup is covered in the LI Spoof setup guide.
Keep the session and VPN available
In Settings → App preferences, choose Keep location. Open Settings → Device Connection → Developer tunnel, connect the in-app VPN and wait for Connected. Keep the VPN connected through the following steps.
Temporarily disable mobile data
Disconnect Wi-Fi and turn Mobile Data / Cellular Data off. Return to LI Spoof without closing it. Tap Check VPN and DVT and wait for DVT to connect. A detected VPN interface alone is not enough.
Restore mobile data once DVT connects
Turn Mobile Data back on while keeping the VPN connected and LI Spoof open. You can restore data before starting Spoof; there is no requirement to start spoofing first.
Start Spoof or your prepared route
Return to LI Spoof and start Spoof at the selected destination or start the prepared route. Wait for a confirmed spoof position or route updates. Build 23 is designed to preserve an already confirmed active session when Check DVT is pressed. If updates stop, use the troubleshooting steps below.
Either order is fine after DVT connects: restore data, then start Spoof; or start Spoof, then restore data. Keep the data-off interruption brief so license checks and online map services remain available. A fresh connection or a fully closed app may require the sequence again.
Startup and an active session behave differently.
Starting the developer connection with mobile data already enabled can fail, even when LI Spoof’s in-app VPN says Connected. LocalDevVPN’s maintainer identifies a known cellular restriction in iOS. Read the upstream report ↗
A user has confirmed that DVT connects with Wi-Fi and mobile data off. Mobile data can then be restored before starting Spoof. Starting Spoof first and restoring data afterward is also an option. These are reported workarounds, not a guarantee for every iPhone or iOS version.
Build 23 preserves an already confirmed active session when Check DVT is pressed. Its regression checks pass, but that correction still needs confirmation on a physical iPhone. It does not establish reliable cellular-only startup.
Verify before you go temporarily offline.
The app verifies your saved LARP IPAs key online before you turn data off. A successful verification stays in memory for up to five minutes, capped by the license’s actual expiry. Briefly disabling data for DVT setup does not immediately remove that approval.
Fully offline startup is not supported. If you force-close LI Spoof or iOS terminates it, the in-memory approval is lost. The key remains saved, but a new app launch needs an online check. Turn data on, open LI Spoof and let verification finish before repeating the workaround.
If the approval expires while you are offline, restore an internet connection and let the license verify again. Find or recover your key in the Client Area.
What the connection labels mean
| Label | What it confirms |
|---|---|
| In-app VPN: Connected | iOS reports the app’s VPN profile connected. |
| VPN Interface: Detected | The app finds a tunnel interface or connected profile. This does not confirm DVT. |
| DVT: Connected | The app has established the developer-service connection. Start Spoof and wait for confirmed location updates. |
| Pairing File: Saved | The app has a pairing record. The developer service must still accept the connection. |
If DVT stays disconnected or updates stop
- Confirm your license verified online, Pairing File says Saved and on-device pairing has finished.
- Check that Developer Mode is enabled and the developer VPN is still connected.
- If DVT will not establish, retry the startup sequence with mobile data temporarily off, or use Wi-Fi. Reliable cellular-only startup is not confirmed.
- Open Settings → Device Connection → Developer tunnel, run the check and use Copy connection report. Send support your app build, iOS version, report and whether updates stopped before or after pressing Check DVT. Do not send your license key, pairing file or PIN.
To end spoofing, use Stop / Reset or Settings → Reset Location and wait for confirmation. If Reset is unconfirmed, restore the developer connection and retry. Force-closing the app does not guarantee a confirmed reset.
